Bail Mistake Led to Olorato’s Murder Key Suspects Now on the Run

The Three Suspects Identified in the Olorato Mongale Murder Case

The murder of 30-year-old Johannesburg student Olorato Mongale has exposed a deadly failure in South Africa’s justice system one that may have cost her life.

Three men have been identified as suspects in her killing: Fezile Ngubane, Philangenkosi Sibongokuhle Makhanya, and Bongani Mthimkhulu. Shockingly, two of them  Makhanya and Mthimkhulu were arrested weeks before the murder for kidnapping and robbing another woman in the same white VW Polo now linked to Olorato’s death.

Despite the severity of the earlier charges, both suspects were granted bail. After Olorato’s murder on May 25, they disappeared. Authorities now say they are on the run.

Olorato was last seen being picked up for what she told family was a date. Hours later, her body was found dumped in Lombardy West. The Polo used in both crimes was later discovered in Durban, with traces of blood inside.

As the manhunt intensifies, police have also arrested the parents of one suspect. The mother is accused of warning her son about a police raid, while the father allegedly owns the vehicle used in the crimes.
