South African rapper Emtee is once again at the centre of social media controversy after screenshots of his alleged private Instagram messages surfaced online, reportedly shared by his wife.
The leaked DMs appear to show conversations with multiple women, including Big Brother Mzansi contestant Mshini Lekwadu and social media personality Sugababiie.
The Mshini Conversation
In one of the viral screenshots, Mshini greets Emtee and shares that she is based in The Parks Lifestyle Estate in Fourways. Emtee asks when he can “pay [her] a visit,” to which she replies that he can come on Friday.
The chat, lacking further context, quickly sparked speculation about the nature of their relationship.
However, Mshini responded swiftly with an official statement, clarifying that her interactions with the rapper were purely professional:
“While in the Big Brother house, I openly supported Emtee because I am genuinely a fan of his music… My intention was purely professional, and I take my brand, my supporters, and my reputation very seriously.”

Another screenshot allegedly from Emtee’s inbox shows Sugababiie initiating a chat, reminding him of a “promise,” and later requesting money specifically R7,000.
This comes shortly after Sugababiie was the target of online bullying on X (formerly Twitter) when she posted a picture of herself. Commenters left harsh and personal remarks, with some mocking her appearance
Now, with her alleged DMs to Emtee circulating, some online users claim they are “not surprised” pointing to past accusations that she has been a “mean girl” in her interactions with others. While some believe the bullying she faced was excessive, others argue that the latest revelations have made them less sympathetic to her situation.
