Eight Months of Silence, Fear, and Torture A Pretoria Family’s Desperate Search for Their Missing Son
The family of Pretoria entrepreneur Jerry Boshoga remains in anguish nearly eight months after his shocking abduction in Centurion, as the case gains renewed public attention through an exposé on SABC’s hard-hitting documentary series “Cutting Edge.”
Jerry, a respected farmer and tenderpreneur, vanished on November 18, 2024, shortly after meeting a potential business partner in Rooihuiskraal. That day was unusual he had chosen not to take his bodyguards, a rare move that left him vulnerable. By that evening, he was gone.
A Calculated Abduction
Within hours of his disappearance, the family was contacted by unknown individuals demanding a multi-million-rand ransom. The kidnappers initially asked for R60 million, later reducing the demand to R10 million. The family, devastated and unable to meet the demands, could only watch in horror as the situation escalated.
Beginning in February 2025, the kidnappers started sending graphic videos showing Jerry being tortured. Some of these disturbing recordings were even leaked online, drawing widespread outrage before being taken down. The family was warned not to contact authoritiesor risk worse harm to Jerry.
His sister, Josie Boshoga, says the ordeal has been emotionally and psychologically crippling.
“We’re living a nightmare. Every day we pray Jerry is still alive. We’ve done everything we can, but we’re terrified,” she said.

Spotlight on “Cutting Edge”
The case has now received national focus through an episode of SABC’s “Cutting Edge,” a documentary program known for exposing hidden crises in South Africa. The episode investigates not only Jerry’s case, but the broader pattern of high-profile kidnappings targeting successful individuals across the country.
In the documentary, security experts, journalists, and Jerry’s family members share harrowing details. The show suggests possible links between his disappearance and organized crime rings, even referencing controversial names circulating in public speculation. While no arrests have been made, the episode has amplified public interest and pressure on law enforcement.
The Cutting Edge team raises a crucial question: How can a man vanish in daylight and why is it so difficult to get him back?
Law Enforcement and Silence
The South African Police Service (SAPS) has confirmed an investigation is underway, but updates have been minimal. The family says they’ve received little to no feedback from investigators, further adding to their despair.
Still, Josie insists the public must not forget Jerry.
“He is a father. A brother. A businessman who helped others. He does not deserve this. We just want him home.”
