Reality TV personality and musician Themba Broly Mabaso is pushing back against allegations of drug use and involvement in a violent

apartment complex brawl that left music producer Nicey Beatz injured. In a recent statement, Mabaso denied using cocaine and offered his version of events, calling the narrative presented by others misleading and damaging to his public image.

Denial of Drug Use Amid Public Scrutiny

The controversy erupted after reports circulated suggesting that Mabaso may have been under the influence during the altercation. He has since firmly denied using cocaine or any other substances, saying he’s been wrongly labeled without evidence. He explained that although some assume drug use due to his appearance particularly his red eyes this is simply his natural look and not the result of substance abuse.

“I don’t smoke cocaine. I don’t even smoke weed,” Mabaso clarified during a media interaction. “People just like to assume things without facts.”

Altercation Leaves Producer Injured

The incident in question took place at a residential complex and reportedly involved a group of about 15 individuals. According to Nicey Beatz, a dispute escalated after Mabaso allegedly assaulted another man. In the aftermath, the injured man's friends retaliated, and Nicey was unintentionally caught in the crossfire.

“He became almost like a demon-possessed,” Nicey said in a separate interview. “After the incident, he left, and that guy’s friends came back for me.”

Mabaso Claims Self-Defense and Miscommunication

Mabaso’s version of events differs significantly. He explained that the conflict began after a disagreement involving a phone and a misunderstanding over the slang term “ntwana,” which in his hometown of Alexandra means “my guy.” He claims the term was misinterpreted as disrespect, sparking the altercation.

“There was a stupid squabble outside the apartment,” Mabaso recounted. “His girlfriend wanted to leave with my phone. I was upset. Then I went up the lift with another guy, and he took offense to the word ‘ntwana.’ But where I come from, that’s how we talk.”

He maintained that Nicey was not directly involved in the confrontation but became an unintended victim of the larger fallout.

Personal Fallout and Family Concerns

Beyond the headlines, Mabaso revealed that the incident has taken a toll on his personal lifeparticularly as a father. He expressed concern about the impact the negative press may have on his son, who is active on platforms like YouTube and TikTok.

“My child is exposed to this online world. Imagine seeing your father being painted as a monster,” he said.

While he regrets that the situation escalated, Mabaso emphasized that he acted in self-defense and believes the full story has not been fairly represented. He also stated that he attempted to make amends by offering to cover Nicey Beatz’s medical expenses but did not receive a response. According to Mabaso, Nicey's decision to speak publicly on a podcast felt more like an attempt to generate attention than to resolve the matter privately.

Legal Steps and Ongoing Tension

At present, Mabaso maintains that there is no police investigation specifically targeting him and says he has not been contacted by law enforcement. He attributes his cautious behavior to concerns over personal safety rather than guilt. Given his visibility in the entertainment industry, he says maintaining both his physical safety and professional image is crucial.

However, the situation may still evolve legally. Nicey Beatz has since opened a formal case against his alleged attackers, which could lead to further developments depending on the outcome of the investigation.
