DJ Maphorisa has put to rest speculation about his relationship with Podcast and Chill host Mac G, stating during an Instagram Live on June 4, 2025, that he holds no personal grudges but warned that podcast platforms can be risky territory.
The award-winning producer acknowledged a rocky history with Mac G, which includes moments of support and later criticism particularly when Mac G labeled him a “gatekeeper” in the music industry. While Maphorisa dismissed any ongoing feud, he expressed concern that podcast interviews often twist guests’ words and spark unnecessary drama.
Citing recent examples, Maphorisa pointed to Amapiano artist Scotts Maphuma, who was heavily criticized after a podcast appearance where he made statements perceived as arrogant and dismissive of his fans. The backlash was swift, leading to social media outrage and professional setbacks. Maphorisa used this as a warning about how quickly public opinion can shift based on how things are said or misinterpreted on such platforms.
He also referenced other high-profile figures who’ve landed in hot water after appearing on Podcast and Chill, including Jub Jub, Amanda du-Pont, Nota Baloyi, and Natasha Thahane, all of whom faced public or legal backlash after controversial revelations.
While emphasizing that he doesn’t fear Mac G or his platform, Maphorisa’s message was clear: in an age of viral soundbites, even a single podcast appearance can derail a public figure’s image.
