South African Music Takes Spotlight at 2025 BET Awards Airing June 9 from Los Angeles


Tyla, Maglera Doe Boy, Dlala Thukzin, and the amapiano duo TXC have been nominated at the BET awards 

 The 2025 BET Awards are set to air live on Monday, June 9, at 8 p.m. ET/PT from the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles and South African music is front and center in this year’s lineup.


This year marks the 25th anniversary of the prestigious awards show, and South Africa’s presence is stronger than ever. Rising stars Maglera Doe Boy, Dlala Thukzin, and the amapiano duo TXC have been nominated in the highly competitive “Best New International Act” category. Their nominations reflect the growing global impact of South Africa’s diverse music scene, from hip hop to house to amapiano.

Maglera Doe Boy, celebrated for his lyrical depth and genre-blending style, continues to build on the momentum of his 2024 BET Hip Hop Awards nomination. Dlala Thukzin, known for his innovative fusion of Gqom and 3-step, has also earned international acclaim with his latest album Finally Famous Too. Meanwhile, TXC made up of Tarryn Reid and Clairise Hefke has taken amapiano to the world stage with viral performances and global recognition.
