The South African entertainment scene is on fire after Dr Brian Monaisa, known for his previous relationship with Minnie Dlamini, launched a scathing attack on podcasters MacG and Sol Phenduka. The respected surgeon and public figure took to social media to express his outrage, labeling the duo as "coward rats" following comments made about women on their popular platform, Podcast and Chill.
Dr Brian’s furious response came after MacG and Sol were accused of body-shaming Minnie Dlamini during a recent episode. The remarks sparked immediate backlash online, with many calling the podcasters out for their continued pattern of making degrading comments about women.
In his Instagram Stories, Dr Brian did not mince his words, tagging MacG directly and accusing both him and Sol Phenduka of harboring a deep-seated problem with successful women. Using hashtags like #rats and #cowards, he made it clear that he sees their behavior as not only disrespectful but cowardly.
The controversy didn't stop there. Social media users quickly pointed out the bitter irony that MacG who was raised by a single mother and is now a father to a daughter would participate in conversations perceived as misogynistic. Sol Phenduka, who also recently celebrated his daughter’s 7th birthday online, was similarly slammed, with critics questioning how he could advocate for women’s respect privately but remain silent publicly when derogatory remarks are made.
Many feel that the podcasters' actions reflect a bigger issue within South African media, where influential male voices often perpetuate harmful narratives about women without facing enough accountability.
