Tyla Joins 2025 Met Gala Committee After Iconic Debut: Fashion’s New Power Player
Tyla is continuing her rise as a global fashion force by joining the 2025 Met Gala committee. The event, taking place on Monday, May 5 at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York, will center on the theme “Superfine: Tailoring Black Style,” a tribute to the art of Black dandyism and the legacy of tailored fashion in Black culture. This year’s dress code, “Tailored for You,” encourages deeply personal interpretations of the theme through custom couture.
While the evening will be co-chaired by Pharrell Williams, A$AP Rocky, Lewis Hamilton, Colman Domingo, and Anna Wintour with LeBron James serving as honorary chair Tyla stands out as a committee member representing the next generation of global tastemakers. Her growing influence in both music and fashion makes her an ideal contributor to this year’s celebration of individuality and cultural heritage.
Tyla’s Met Gala debut in 2024 remains unforgettable. Wearing a custom Balmain gown crafted to look like sand sculpted onto her body, she embodied the concept of “the sands of time” and stunned fashion critics worldwide. The look went viral and landed her on virtually every best-dressed list of the night.
